Residency and Outreach Activities
Akwaaba Ensemble is a group of traditional performers with colorful costumes who bring hand drumming, dancing and singing from Ghana, West Africa to many stages. Other African multi-cultural programs including storytelling and drumming workshops that allow participants a hands on experience. The participants will learn beats and rhythms on the drum while learning about a new culture.

Theo Martey and the shidaa cultural group, placed second during the tradional folk music in Accra art center in March 1996.
Education/Training
Theophilus Nii Martey is a talented artist who was born and raised in Accra Ghana, West Africa. He has taught and performed African drumming and dancing in Ghana and internationally in Europe, England, Ireland, Mexico, Canada and the United States.
